Project Overview

The redevelopment of Harrah’s Pompano Beach Casino required an architectural cladding solution capable of delivering the warmth and visual richness of natural wood while meeting the demanding performance requirements of South Florida. The design vision called for a consistent woodgrain aesthetic across exterior facades, soffits, and interior coffered ceilings and feature walls, without introducing long-term maintenance concerns.

SAGIPER NORTH AMERICA partnered directly with the design team at Marnell Companies, coordinating closely with MGM Construction and key trade partners, to deliver a unified architectural solution using SAGIWALL™ 6” V-Groove FR Siding panels across all applications.

Design Collaboration & Project Timeline

SAGIPER’s involvement began in 2019, working closely with the architect during early exterior design development. Over more than a year of collaboration, detailed conversations took place around panel sizing, detailing, fire performance, wind-load considerations, and installation strategy to ensure the design intent could be executed efficiently and consistently on site.

Like many large-scale projects, the casino redevelopment was temporarily placed on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the project resumed in 2021, SAGIPER was able to re-engage seamlessly, maintaining continuity in design intent and material specification.

The Challenge 1

Fire, Wind, and Code Compliance

Located in South Florida, the project required exterior cladding systems that met strict Florida Building Code standards, including performance expectations within High Velocity Hurricane Zones.

The Solution

SAGIPER achieved Florida Product Approval for SAGIWALL™ FR Siding, enabling its use on this project and throughout Miami-Dade HVHZ jurisdictions.

The Challenge 2

Long-Term Appearance in a High-UV Environment

The architect and ownership team required a maintenance-free woodgrain cladding solution capable of withstanding intense Florida sun exposure without fading, discoloration, or surface degradation over time. Natural wood and coated alternatives were evaluated but presented long-term maintenance and appearance risks.

The Solution

SAGIWALL™ FR panels were selected for their UV-stable, high-performance woodgrain finishes, designed to maintain color consistency and visual integrity in demanding climates.

The project required a maintenance-free woodgrain solution that could withstand intense UV exposure without fading or discoloration.

The Challenge 3

Reducing Panel Waste and Improving Installation Efficiency

Large architectural projects often generate excessive waste when limited to standard panel lengths, resulting in unnecessary cutting, added labor, and inconsistent visual breaks.

The Solution

SAGIPER supplied custom-length SAGIWALL™ panels precisely matched to specific elevations, soffits, and interior ceiling conditions. Panels were delivered in lengths of 16’, 19’, 20’, 22’, 24’, 25’, 26’, 27’, and up to 36’, allowing installers to span long runs with fewer seams and minimal offcuts.

By supplying custom panel lengths up to 36 feet, SAGIPER significantly reduced on-site waste and improved installation efficiency.

The Challenge 4

Finish Consistency for Future Project Phases

Casino renovations often occur in multiple phases over several years, making finish consistency critical.

The Solution

SAGIPER’s woodgrain finishes are not dye-lot dependent, ensuring future phases or expansions can seamlessly match the original installation years later.

With no dye-lot dependency, future phases can seamlessly match the original installation years later.

The panels were easy to work with, and the trim system made installation clean, efficient, and consistent across the project.

Installation & Execution

SAGIPER worked in close coordination with MGM Construction, alongside KHS&S Contractors for exterior siding and soffits and Acousti for interior coffered ceilings and feature wall applications. Using the same SAGIWALL™ 6” V-Groove FR panels across all scopes simplified coordination and ensured a consistent architectural language throughout the project.

Installer feedback consistently highlighted the ease of handling, installer-friendly trim system, and efficiency gained through custom-length panels.

Results

  • Consistent woodgrain aesthetic across exterior and interior spaces
  • Florida Product Approved cladding suitable for HVHZ applications
  • Significant reduction in material waste through custom panel lengths
  • Faster, cleaner installation with fewer seams and offcuts
  • Long-term finish consistency for future project phases

Conclusion

The Harrah’s Pompano Beach Casino renovation demonstrates the value of early collaboration, performance-driven material selection, and thoughtful detailing. By utilizing SAGIWALL™ 6” V-Groove FR Siding panels throughout the project, SAGIPER delivered a maintenance-free woodgrain solution that met aesthetic goals, reduced construction waste, and ensured long-term performance in one of North America’s most demanding building environments.
